Fire Damper Maintenance

The British Standard 9999 Code of Practice for Fire Safety in the Design & Use of Buildings states “…any grille or opening through the enclosure for ventilation purposes should be protected by a fire damper”.

With the enactment of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it is now the employer’s responsibility to maintain their fire safety systems. BS 9999:2017 states: Arrangement’s should be made for all fire dampers to be tested by a competent person on completion of the installation and at least annually, and to be repaired or replaced immediately if found to be faulty.

  • Fire Damper Installation with 3rd Party Accreditation sign off
  • Initial Damper Surveys: Working from plans, drawings or by visiting your site, we will locate the dampers you are responsible for generate an asset register as required in the Golden Thread of information.
  • Damper Inspection: A visual assessment of your dampers will be carried out to highlight any damage to the dampers preventing a full damper operation and reset.
  • Damper Testing: Compliance requires that fire damper testing is carried out annually as a minimum. A fire damper test requires a visual inspection of the fire damper and a drop test prior to resetting.
  • Damper Reporting: Our fire damper report gives you a record of the fire dampers in your building including location, damper referencing, damper results, photographic evidence and any required remedial works.
  • Remedial works: If faults are identified during the inspection and testing, our experts offer a remedial works quotation.
